At Hollymoor Farm we are genuinely committed to providing good quality service whilst actively reducing or environmental impact. We adhere to, and put into practice, the following:
1. Recycling of cans, plastic, glass, and paper. We encourage our guests to do likewise by providing recycling bins on site.
2. Compost bins are used by all at the farm.
3. We use recycled paper and products wherever possible.
4. Energy saving light bulbs (lamps) are being used as replacements when an old lamp burns through.
5. The use of environmentally friendly cleaning products.
6. We have insulation in both loft spaces and cavity walls, and double glazing throughout to increase energy efficiency.
7 We support local produce wherever possible, e.g. fruit, veg, and locally produced meat - all of which can be purchased from "Simpsons" the butcher in the village.
8. Maps of the walks around the farm area and beyond are provided.
9. We have water butts for the collection of rainwater for the garden.
10. Use of email and our website to promote New Cottage at Hollymoor Farm wherever possible.
These actions help to make Hollymoor Farm environmentally friendly. We also abide by EU regulations in helping, in a wider perspective, improvement for wildlife.
1. Encouraging bird life through putting up nesting boxes and also through year-round feeding at the garden bird tables.
2. Introducing 2 metre grassland strips for nesting birds, insects and wildlife.
Please support us by adhering to the following wherever possible:
1. Recycle cans/tins/plastic bottles, glass bottles/ jars, paper/cardboard (flattened), and through our recycling scheme.
2. Switch off lights, TV, radio, when leaving a room and turn down heaters rather than opening a window to cool down a room.
3. Encourage one another to recycle.
4. Use the village shops selling local produce.
5. You could perhaps leave the car behind sometimes and walk or cycle (please bring your own cycle).
6. Fill in page 2 of the Registration Book on leaving to let us know how you have enjoyed your stay and how our environmental policies have affected your holiday.
7. If you have access to a computer you could leave a message on www.hollymoorfarm.co.uk guestbook page.
Thank you for your understanding and compliance and we trust you have a peaceful and tranquil holiday in New Cotage at Hollymoor Farm in the beautiful Durham Dales.
